I’m Fionn! (sometimes called Fino of short).

I joined the scouting movement at the ripe age of seven and haven’t stopped scouting since. I come from a family of scouters, my grandparents, parents, uncles and aunt all members of groups across dublin. With active involvement in Aughrim and Ringsend.
I’m currently an active Rover Scout in Port of Galway (24th) and auditor of the NUI Galway Rover society. Outside of scouting I have just completed my second year of Psychology in NUI Galway.  I work as a senior sailing instructor during the summer and spend my winter climbing anything that looks interesting.

I’m always looking for an adventure of some kind!

I can still remember the first time I heard about the Explorer Belt – During a watch leader’s training course in Mayo scout county at the age of 12. Our leader was telling us about the “most adventurous experience” in scouting. At the time, I thought the idea of being dropped in a random location would be fantastic, having to rely on your skills to survive. I can safely say that the idea of the Explorer belt  has kept me scouting during both the good and bad times.

Scouting has without a doubt changed my life, It’s shaped the person I am today. The Explorer Belt  is one of the final adventures in scouting, one which I hope will equally shape me for years to come.
